DOG GEAR

Leash
Treats for recall practice
Collapsible water bowl
1-2 24 ounce bottles water per dog (if hiking along streams and lakes, no extra water needed)
Tick repellent

TICK REPELLENT
Bug Band all natural no deet lotion spray -- love this product, works well for people and pretty well for dogs (www.xavierpetproducts.com)
Frontline non systemic topical is no longer working for many dogs, as ticks seem to have become resistant to it
Preventic collars are dangerous -- can cause at the least a rash and at the worst shock and even death
Biospot is a heavy dose permethrin systemic topical monthly product -- too much permethrin for me
Advantix is a light dose permethrin mix systemic topical monthly product -- it may be worth the risk of using light permethrin to avoid tick borne disease

EMERGENCY

MINI FIRST AID
Bandaids, benedryl, dog boot(s), new skin, vetwrap, tweezers, mini wire cutter/pliers
Cell phone
Flashlight
Compass
Whistle
